Department of Neurological Sciences (DONS) at the University of
Nebraska Medical Center seeks an expert in human factors, human
systems integration, and health care delivery. The successful
candidate will be expected to participate actively in an ambitious
new multidisciplinary initiative in the study of engineering and
technology in healthcare delivery that includes faculty across the
UNMC campus. The position offers numerous opportunities for
interdisciplinary research collaborations throughout the
university. Candidates for this academic position should have a PhD
or MD/PhD degree with specific training and expertise in human
factors/ergonomics. Applications will be considered at the junior,
mid-career, or senior level. Faculty rank will be commensurate with
expertise. The successful candidate should have the expertise
needed for the integration of older and cognitively impaired
individuals into the design of healthcare tools, interfaces, and
systems. Relevant expertise includes human factors engineering,
human systems integration, simulation, patient safety, electronic
health records, smart homes, the built environment, and use of
remote sensor data for monitoring patient physiology, mobility,
transportation, behavior, and health in the field.Required
QualificationsPhD or MD/PhD degree in Engineering, Psychology, or a
similar field with specific training and expertise in human
factors/ergonomics.Supplemental QualificationsThe successful
candidate should have the expertise needed for the design and
implementation of human-centered solutions including healthcare
tools, interfaces, and systems. Relevant expertise includes human
factors engineering, human systems integration, macroergonomics,
industrial engineering, simulation, patient safety, electronic
health records, smart homes, and use of remote sensor data for
monitoring patient physiology, mobility, transportation, behavior,
