  • A large system in Nebraska/Iowa is looking for PCU RNs.
  • 36 hours guaranteed.
  • 1 year of unit experience.
    • Job Requirements
    • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required.
      • Schedule Information
      • Shifts are 0630-1900, 1830-0700.
      • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4-5.
      • Every other weekend required.
      • Holiday requirements: As needed to meet unit needs.
      • Can float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care.
      • Navy Blue scrub color/dress code.
      • First week classroom then 2-12 hour shifts on the floor.
      • Busy patient flow- admitting and discharging within the same 6 hour time frame while also completing shift change.
      • Strong sense of teamwork, friendly, positive can-do attitude, engagement in positive patient experience with commitment to bedside report and hourly rounding.
        • Unit Specific Information
        • # of Beds: 33.
        • Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: CNAs 1:10 ratio- available CNAs fluctuates based on unit census.
        • Shifts & Scheduling: Unit schedulers will make travelers schedule.
          • Additional Details
          • - Department: Stepdown
          • - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Young adults through geriatrics, sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, patients with complex medical issues including multisystem failure.
          • - RNs are required to titrate drips.
          • - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, Insulin; maintenance doses of IV meds (non-titratable).
          • - There is a Charge Nurse on each shift, and the charge nurse may take an assignment.
          • - Nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit: CNAs have a 1:10 ratio; the availability of CNAs fluctuates based on unit census.
          • - RT Equipment: BiPAP, Airvo.
          • - Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit: Yes, RNs must read and interpret.
