  • Facility in Eastern Nebraska is looking for several traveling Med-Surg nurses. The hospital is looking for both day and night shift coverage.
    • Job Requirements
    • ACLS Preferred, BLS
    • Nurses are successful on this unit when they can manage the busyness of the day, have good attendance, are a team player, friendly, compassionate, and put patients first.
      • Schedule Information
      • The shift will be twelve hours, 36-48 hour guarantees.
      • Shifts: 0630-1900, 1830-0700
      • Travelers will be scheduled. Will approve a limited amount of block scheduling
      • Every other weekend requirement
      • Holiday Requirements: 1 major, 1 minor
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Mechanical lifts in every other room
        • Big focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness
        • This unit typically has multiple discharges and admissions in one day
        • They serve patients of all cultures on this unit including Spanish, Karen, Burmese
          • Additional Details
          • Department: Med Tele / Ortho RN - 4th Floor North & South
          • Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
          • Common diagnosis / Types of patients: MedSurg/Tele- joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, failure to thrive
          • RN's required to titrate drips such as Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine
          • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: PCA pumps
          • Charge Nurse on each shift, who may take an assignment
          • Nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit with duties and ratios
          • Tele/Monitor Techs on the unit, RN's should have some tele awareness
          • Scrubs Color/Dress Code: RNs: Navy Blue
          • Unit/department specific orientation: 2 days
          • Floating Requirements: Yes to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed
