Summary InformationUnder the general direction and supervision of
the Vice President, Administrative Services & CFO, the Chief
Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for leading the
Information Technology Division. The CIO will play a pivotal role
in leading SCC's technological future, developing and implementing
IT strategies that align with the College's mission and strategic
goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical
expertise, business acumen, and excellent communication skills.
SCC's IT Division is responsible for a wide range of IT functions
including networking and telecommunications, enterprise
applications such as Ellucian Colleague, classroom technology, user
support, and information security.In collaboration with SCC's
Administrative team and faculty, the CIO provides essential
technologies, data analytics, and support services to enhance
teaching and learning, ultimately supporting student success. The
CIO is committed to improving the reliability and performance of
core technologies, optimizing administrative systems, and
leveraging modern technology solutions to elevate student services
and streamline business processes. The CIO actively engages in
discussions about technology and data governance, collaborating
with students, faculty, staff, and other partnerships to explore
innovative ways to utilize technology in support of SCC's mission
and strategic goals.This full-time regular position requires travel
to all SCC campuses and locations to perform the essential
functions of College leadership responsibility as deemed
necessary.Essential FunctionsReporting to the Vice President of
Administrative Services & CFO, the CIO will be responsible for:
- Strategic Leadership: Drive SCC's IT strategy, encompassing
cybersecurity, hardware and network management, software licensing,
IT services, and technology acquisitions that are aligned with
SCC's mission and strategic goals.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee daily IT operations, ensuring
reliable and efficient technology services.
- Financial Oversight: Develop and manage the IT Division's
budgets and financial resources.
- Project Management: Oversee the planning, development, and
implementation of software, hardware, and services ensuring
alignment with institutional objectives.
- Vendor Management: Manage IT vendor contracts and
relationships. In collaboration with the Administrative Director of
Purchasing, the CIO will be responsible for SCC's hardware and
software purchases including the issuance of Requests for Proposal
and the evaluation of such RFPs.
- Collaboration: Foster partnerships within all divisions of the
College to understand the various needs and identify improvement
opportunities.
- Innovation: Explore and adopt innovative technologies to
enhance teaching, learning, student success, and administrative
processes.
- Data Governance: Establish and maintain data governance
practices to ensure data quality, security, and accessibility.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate IT risks to
protect SCC's assets and reputation.
- People: Identify, develop, and retain talented IT staff
fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional
growth. Provide oversight, management, direction, and evaluation to
IT staff.
- Policy & Procedure Development: Create, review, and maintain IT
policies, procedures, and standards.
- Organization Climate: Maintain a positive and engaging
organizational environment by encouraging input, reflective and
transparent communication, and compassion and respect toward the
views and ideas of others.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Actively participate in key committees,
team meetings, and college community activities.Promote a Culture
of Belonging: Support and promote an environment of belonging where
all students, faculty members, and college employees feel welcomed,
valued, and empowered to contribute, regardless of their
identities. Foster a community where diverse identities and
perspectives enrich the educational experience and create a safe
and respectful environment.Marginal Functions
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President,
Administrative Services & CFO.
- May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or
assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required.
- Perform other College functions and duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and
campuses as required.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong leadership, management, interpersonal, and communication
skills. A solid understanding of the strategic technology
challenges facing higher education or similar organizations.
- Knowledge of the role of technology in enhancing teaching,
learning, student success, and business practices.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Developing and implementing strategic and financial IT
plans.
- Building effective organizations and fostering a culture of
service.
- Managing core infrastructure (networks, data centers, servers,
security, and storage).
- Improving data management and enhancing reporting and analytics
capabilities.
- Sourcing technology services and managing vendor
relationships.
- Establishing decision-making processes and overseeing
large-scale projects.
- Managing budgets and financial resources.
- Identifying and managing IT risks.
- Ability to critically review policies and procedures and to
provide input on developing/formulating operative procedures for
the division and College leadership area of responsibility.
- Ability to meet the necessary travel requirements of the
position.
- Ability to lift and carry up to (50) fifty pounds for short
distances, and move tables, chairs, and media equipment.Minimum
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Five (5) years of progressive leadership and management
experience in IT and/or Technology related fields.Desired
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in a related field.
- Progressive leadership experience within a post-secondary
educational institution or large-scale information technology
operation.
- IT management experience including staff supervision and
budgetary responsibility.Salary$96,689 per yearBenefitsSCC BEN
Dollars - Eligible Employees: Full-time status. Regular employees
with an FTE of 0.75 or greater will be eligible for SCC Ben
Dollars. All employees will be required to elect a health insurance
option. If the cost of insurance coverage selected by an employee
exceeds the SCC Ben Dollars available, all additional costs will be
