Enterprise Data Architecture and Engineering team? We're seeking an
experienced Enterprise Architect who can work through complex data
and AI solutions, conceive and deliver elegant, extensible,
AI-ready data solutions, lead and mentor data engineers and
architects through the delivery of emerging tech in a complex,
distributed corporate environment, and work across boundaries to
align solution patterns and gain the confidence of domain partners
and technology leaders. You will be developing architectural
governance and management processes for data and data
infrastructure and you'll be aligning the enterprise data portfolio
with business applications, consulting on major systems strategies
and implementations.Responsibilities
- Evaluate and recommend architecture changes based on technology
and business trends. Specify architecture approach and
standards.
- Provide strategic perspective and alignment. Lead data
architects and engineers in data governance efforts and
architectural reviews, contributing to current methodologies.
- Review architecture strategy to ensure fitness for purpose.
Ensure that architecture supports business process
requirements.
- Consult with business clients, senior technical specialists and
other technical architects in all aspects of enabling technologies
to meet business needs. Provide expertise on architecture design or
improvement, considering the performance impact of the
architecture.
- Investigate, research, provide technical advice to the adoption
or integration of new technologies and their business impact.
- Identify problems and issues that affect multiple areas and
facilitate resolution. Anticipate and evaluate impacts of problem
solutions that affect multiple areas of the organization. Lead and
coordinate efforts of hardware, network and database architects in
application design and implementation. Apply industry standard
problem-solving tools and techniques.
- Explore and use alternative approaches or points of view.
Participate in determining goals and objectives for projects.
- Foster the development of a common vision, providing clear
direction of roles, responsibilities and priorities. Take risks to
address difficult issues, standing firm, when necessary, for the
betterment of the company, department or process.
- Thoroughly understand customer impacting requirements.
Demonstrate awareness of industry standard processes. Identify
opportunities to leverage existing solutions for multiple
customers.
- Participate in defining business cases for IT investments.
Understand AbbVie's business processes and how they affect system
design across business groups.QualificationsQualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 9+ years of related work experience with
strong understanding of data architecture (both structured and
unstructured) or an equivalent combination of education and work
experience. Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
preferred. Advanced degree preferred.
- Bachelor's degree with 9 years' experience; Master's degree
with 8 years' experience; PhD with 4 years' experience in a variety
of IT roles including technical, application development, business
systems and data management.
- At least 3 years managing people and projects. Exposure to a
wide variety of technologies and applications.
- Experience designing, building and delivering complex data
solutions including AI, Analytics, Data Lake, Data Warehouse,
Business Intelligence, Data Governance, Master Data Management,
etc.
- Experience developing and executing technical and business
capability roadmaps and strategies.
- Experience leading teams to solve complex, cross functional
problems.
- Demonstrated excellent analytic, judgment and consultative
capabilities.
- Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills,
including the ability to work with both IT staff and business.
- Proven leadership skills.Additional InformationApplicable only
